Ember Poem by Clayton Anderson

Ember

My love for you still burns beneath the dying branches of our past, calmly waiting for the rain to fall, to wash clean my world and pass.
Like a breeze, your voice blows by and brings it back to life, with each word, each thought, each day the fire continues to grow bright.
With just a glance your eyes will move the flame within my heart, forcing my entire mind to know how long we’ve been apart.
Like lightning crashing through the sky my soul gives off a light, that’s so intense with heat that even the sun would call it bright.
I am helpless to put out the flame that grows within my soul, it’s now the time I leave my love completely in your control.
Like static my lips tingle when I remember our first kiss, that’s a day I will hold onto and would never want to miss.
I feel you moving closer, and closer to me again, I let go and I accept the chills that run across my skin.
Your voice pulls at my soul bringing forth a part of me, that I know I have been missing and can’t believe I couldn’t see.
I know now that in the darkness when I need help to just get thru, that life has brought back to me my endless love for you.
