Emily Poem by Edwin Serrata

Emily

I can see your smiles,
Your Laughs,
Your tears,
And your love

At times I feel that your head can say one thing but your heart says another.
That it says,
I'm lost,
I'm hurt,
I'm crying,
I'm bleeding,
I'm hoping,
Hoping that someone can see the scars that are engraved in my heart.
Who can understand where I've been;
For someone to see the life in me.
That way my love can be ignited,
To be held closely and to feel the warmth of another,

But something stops you,
You think,
Is it the blades?
The adversity?
The neglect?
I can hear you scream.

And I can feel the pain you have felt.
The hate,
The anger,
The uncontrollable spiral of life.
And to stay you're not alone.
To say that you are loved
And always be loved.

And I stretch my hand out waiting for yours.
That way you can feel the warmth
The love raining over your body
To pull you close into my arms
And whisper in you ear;
I love you.
