Emperor Newt - Lincoln Park Zoo Poem by Ima Ryma

Emperor Newt - Lincoln Park Zoo

An emperor newt I do be,
Salamander amphibian,
From Asia originally,
A Lincoln Park Zoo citizen.
The color orange is prominent -
My head, my tail and nodes on back.
The nodes have venom to present
If predators choose to attack.
Worms and bugs I do like to eat.
So when I hear my space door hinge,
The keeper with food I do greet,
And do not spray my nodes of orange.

In hand that feeds me, I could fit.
If bearing food, I welcome it.
