Empty Box Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Empty Box

No matter who gets what,
From another to give it.
Whether to appreciate a not.
A receiving of a beautifully wrapped,
Empty box.
Filled with nothing from bottom to top.

There is still something about it given.
Without it to mention but says,
'Attempt this to forget...
Every reason you've got.
To have higher expectations.
Not to earn a single one of them! '
