Empty cup

Fill your glass.
Fill it to the brim.
Pass it around,
Until it drips down your chin.

Empty your cup.
Empty your soul.
Continue to drink,
Until your thoughts grow cold.

Fill your glass.
Fill it to the top.
Pass it to the right, then to the left.
Just remember once you start, there will be no stop.

Empty your cup.
Empty the glass of time.
Forget your past,
With every swig of salt and lime.

poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Over the harvest-fields forsaken,
Silent, and soft, and slow
