I am not an epigone
Tho' I read Hesiod's Theogony.

I love Ajax the greater,
Tho' I was not named
In Homer's Iliad.

I love Dante Alighieri,
If not for his comedy
Why should I tease Jami?

How could I forget Taban,
If he is just another Caliban.

If I dare ignore Soyinca,
Perhaps today another
man may die.
