Epiphany Poem by Dereck Gibbs

Epiphany

Rating: 4.0

Journeyed into my mind
Searching, searching
An elusive answer frustrates me
Ghosts taunt me
Bellowing puffs of despair into my face
I travelled to my heart
Praying it doesn’t tear me apart
Scars of battle so apparent
Appalling bloody carnage
A cruel winter embraces me
Frosty tears invade
Irreparable damage
Signs of a fallen angel
She laid waste to heaven
Shards of ice penetrated deep
Subdued to my knees
Desolate cries pierce lonely silence
My angel gone
Pain my only lover
Should’ve known better
Adoring what doesn’t belong to me
Shamefully what a fool I was
