These shackles that can no longer be broken,
When I’ve taken that path I should never have chosen,
These shadows that cast upon the cold stone walls,
They remind me of a time I had so much more.
Now I am here in this place they call prison,
No more sights and smells of my loved ones how I miss them,
Bounded to this forsaken lifeless place,
Nothing but dread and evil staring me in the face.
All alone I lay here in this small stinking cell,
The light from the window stretching around these bars of hell,
The cracks of the brickwork are like the wrinkles of my old age,
The life I’ve wasted inside of this cage.
But if I just close my eyes I can escape this life,
I can be anywhere I choose and feel alive,
I can feel the wind rushing through my hair,
I can dip my toes in the sea and smell that dry salty air,
I can see your face glisten in the sunlight,
I can see that smile that makes everything alright,
I can feel the warmth of your skin next to mine,
I can be anywhere in this place in time,
I don’t want to wake up.
Well written Geeza, I'm sure your poets mind and imagination will get you past your sentence easier than without. They can't take that from ya.
