Eulogy Poem by Suparnna Anilkumar

Eulogy

Rating: 5.0

This is my death
The death of a person
Of a being
Ashamed of being
This is no rebirth
I am no phoenix
I do not rise
From my own ashes
I drown in them
In the blood
Of my own self
I burn in the wake
Of countless mistakes
Of repulsive traits
This is my death
A death that brings
No glory
No respect
No riches or rewards
It brings a sense
Of finality
Of an end
An end shrouded
In darkness
In fear
An end clouded
By despair
And doubt
This is my death
That brings
No hope
Or redemption
A death so deserving
That craving life
Would be a sin
This end
Can bring
No repentance
For a being
Such as mine
Remorse would
Be an offence
This is my death
No semicolon
No comma
Life has not been kind
And Death won't be blind
To acknowledge my vices
To admit impiety
This is my death
No more
No less
The end

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Poetic sensibility well runs smoothly here.As being is part of Being as Ralph Waldo Emerson points in the line of the Bhagavat Gita. it cannot die but go away from the dirty body. This body is the 'temple'-/ shetra' and the 'kshetragna' is the soul that resides there.in [Bhagavat ita,13: 1]
