Even If I Should Disappear Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Even If I Should Disappear

Turn away from me if you wish.
Give me the silent treatment.
Ignore my words.
And act as if I do not exist.

But know this,
Even if I should disappear...
What would be clear,
Are your obstacles.

And those are far more daunting,
Than any haunting I may leave...
Because you were too obstinate to believe,
I could be in your corner.
With your back as my concern.
