Even Though You Are Gone, You Are Still Here Poem by Martin Ayanbare Ayankola

Even Though You Are Gone, You Are Still Here

I can hear your sweet laughter and vivacious jokes
Lighting up my mood every day as I laugh through life vicissitudes

I can hear you still singing your favourite song
I can see you doing the jiving dance
While gyrating to the music of the bata
And telling me everything will be all right

Ayanlade even though you are gone, you are still here
Your sweet memories and good deeds will live on
Your life full of life can never be forgotten
As we are here to pass your torch of love to other generations

After all, when a man fought his battles with equanimity
And bowed out gracefully in a quiet morning
And you see a halo around his head as he leaves
All you can wish for him is peace eternally

Baami thank you for your sacrifices
Thank you for always seeking the best for me
Thank you for teaching me how to laugh
Thank you for teaching me simplicity
Even though you are gone, you will always be here
