Nuhu, this darkness will not last for long
As we will triumph obamawise into a dawn of a new day,
I tell you this darkness will not last for long
As dawn will surely break tomorrow
These locusts shall not determine our fates forever
Who but ourselves can sacrifice and cleanse our land of this rubbish
Who but we can unshackle ourselves and set the caged people free
Though they can jump into empty revelry
And laugh at the pains they inflict
But we stand undeterred despite humiliations at NIPSS Kuru
And demotions upon demotions
Just like Jesus, Muhammed and others before us
We stand at the crossroads of history
Because there is no gain without pains
Nuhu, there is no change without pain
And I know your commitment will arouse our dead conscience,
And your sacrifice spur us into action
To reclaim our stolen heritage from the marauders
Who have stashed away our stolen treasures in foreign treasuries
We shall stand with our heads unbowed
We shall ride through the streets of Jalingo,
The boulevards of Abuja fearlesly
Because victory is yours and ours certainly.
Note.
Nuhu Ribadu was an uncompromising anti-corruption officer who served in the immediate past administration of Obasanjo in Nigeria. He is presently being vilified by the Yar’Ardua administration for his uncompromising role during his term as the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission [EFCC].
