Everyone Goes Away Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

Everyone Goes Away

Rating: 5.0

Maybe it's the early morning hour
Maybe it's the moment before the chime
Maybe it's a feeling sour
Or the composition of this rhyme
But I've got a sense I'm amost out of time
Fighting to stay in my prime
Though I've likely been past it for some time
I feel like I'm just hanging onto life
waiting for salvation, rescue or some sign
But the thing that's on my lips
As the cluttered walls close in
And the lamp bulbs glow dim
And everything feels grim
......Everyone goes away!
My aging parents, God bless them
They've only got a short stay
Soon I too will be going grey
My children gone and moved away
My friends likely too are bound to stray
I feel so lost and hopeless and alone
.......Everyone goes away!
I can't bear the lonliness or desolation
I need someone to love and hold
without constant grief or frustraton
Of life, I'm ready to hand in my resignation
I need a place to rest my head
A warm and comfy and shared bed
A place that feels like home
and not feeling abandoned and alone
but this morning my heart feel this drone
my mind hears this inner fear again moan
the lonliest thought I wish I'd never known
......Everyone goes away!
