Everything Is Nothing Poem by Jayne Doe

Everything Is Nothing

So much nothing
That it's everything now
Keep moving forward
'Til we hit the beginning
Or perhaps we never quite began

Our hands are tied
And we're ready to run
The only way is up
Or a circle again

With upside down frown
And smiling eyes
We call it truth
But know it's a lie

Shake hands with an enemy
Stab a friend's back
Friends are family
But it's family we lack

Laugh with a tear
Smile with a sob
Get lost by ourselves
Or lost in the mob

Blinded by light
Can't see in the dark
It's all wrong
But say it's all right

Together it will make sense again
So go home and be alone
Wave to a neighbor
You pretend to know
Hate him inside
But don't let it show

The pieces are whole
But still disconnected
It'll work if we try
But I think you should leave it

My way
Or none at all
Better to fall
Than fly without mine

Starve with your food
Have some of mine
Take my drinks too
And say that I'm kind

Tell me to live
Leave me to die
Live your life
And I'll live mine

Blow a kiss
Send you a smile
It's non-deliverable
And added to piles
Of everything that's ever left
But actually remained
Right where it started

Playing the game
Without any rules
Though you are penalized
If you dare break them

We'd rather you shatter
Parts of yourself
Than break any part
Of somebody else

Except those
We do not like
Teach them fear
Help them feel fright

But make them know
We care, we do
It's just what's best
For them and you

Don't they know
We know the answers
Though it's been years
Since we've got them

But no one has to know
That we've chosen to go
Though we seem to have stayed
We don't really remain

We're not going
We're gone
They already sing songs
Of what it's like without us

We're not going
We're gone
They don't really sing songs
Cause we left them with nothing to sing.
