Examining Mistakes Made Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Examining Mistakes Made

I could and can just sit.
All day to stay that way.
Doing nothing else.
But feeling grateful and blessed.
Realizing with time to me given,
It had to have been only God...
Forcing me to face,
Mistakes made to eliminate...
Falsely accusing others,
For my decisions to choose.

I could.
And this I have done.
Self examining.
Knowing to have experienced,
Not listening to anyone.
With a giving to pay,
Either respect or undivided attention.

Today?
With age and maturity to earn.
I have come to value,
What so many yet to have done.
And observing the ones,
Refusing to believe...
Life lived to do it,
Stops without learning something else.
Something to discover about oneself.

Growing to age has untold benefits.
But having all the answers?
Is not one of them.
Nor is it to one's advantage,
To have others believe one does.
There is too much that is new,
Introduced to everyone on a daily basis.

"So...
What do you think,
About all that is going on these days? "

I can only say...
Mistakes made to excuse them done,
Will be made to hear them excused.

"Uh...
That's it? "

Yep. That's it.
And one day,
You will accept that as progress.

"Progress?
What kind of progress is that? "

Stupidity has a way,
To open all doors to welcome it!
