Expecting Spring Poem by Reva Kern

Expecting Spring

The tenacity of winter -
Looking into the distance
Silvery whiteness covers
Four vast fields without color
White covers the dried-up yellow
Of mother earth
Hoping, waiting hidden in the middle
Is one who shall pour flaming coals
On the heavens to illuminate the earth
To warm the heart
Burning an ardent blaze
Baking red clouds
Thawing ice and frost
Turning a ripple to a flow
Rushing towards the direction of spring
Close your eyes, inhale deeply
I smell desolation in the north wind
Fragrant four-leaf clovers drift down
