Eyes Like The Sea Poem by Libby Simpkins

Eyes Like The Sea

Rating: 5.0

Strenuous days:
pulling ropes, setting sails
Crescent moons shoot life into shadowy skies
Icy water sprays the stern of a rocking boat
Momentum drifting it into another dimension

The sea:
Infinite dark passage ways filled
with mysteries, secrets
buried so deep, never to be seen
but always to be let known

Sun rays illuminate each and every
mobile wave
Hitting it with a force of light
leaving just a sparkle
So when he stands on the bow of his ship
The sparkles of waves, like stars in the sky
Remind him of the secrets hidden beneath
His adventures, his memories
The other men who’s journey ended early
but are left were they are most important
Every hidden secret the sea covers rises
and gleams for everyone to see.

This is where he lives.
His eyes match the color of his surroundings.
His hair flows in-one with the wind.
His brain, part sea.
So when I hear him say, “Wanna go on the boat? ”
I think, “Only if it’s with you, Dad.”
