Fading Ground Poem by Jayne Doe

Fading Ground

Crept to the ledge
Jumped off the edge
Shut my eyes
And hoped to find
The ground meeting me
With pleasantries
Hello, hello, hello
But something wasn't right
No stomach drop delight
Opened my eyes
To find that I was flying
Farther and farther away
Almost wish I stayed
On the precipice
Of a hopeful wish
I wanted stable
But now I'm unable
To firmly plan my feet
On anything I see
For my head's in the clouds
With no known way down
'Round and round I spin
In never-ending winds
I must have planned
To never land
For those around
All seem to go down
While I'm swallowed
And slightly hollowed
By a never-ending sky
Claiming that it's mine
While I look down
At a fading ground
It won't be long
Before it's gone
Guess I'll have to learn to love
That I may never be the one
To walk on solid ground
No constant will be found
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye
To that dying wish of mine
