Faith Comes By Hearing The Word Of God! Poem by Denis Martindale

Oh, to hear the God who made the universe and more,
In answer to the prayers I prayed, His answers to explore,
To learn what He desires, too, transformed as insights thrill,
I yearn for blessings old and new, according to His will.
If I must wait a thousand years to hear His sovereign voice,
I'd wait until that time appears, according to His choice,
As those that sleep, who passed away, some centuries ago,
Still dreaming of one fateful day, the voice of God to know.

Yet while I live and testify, the Holy Spirit guides,
Such that I, too, may glorify the fact that He abides,
To comfort and to strengthen me, to use me when He can,
And all because of Calvary, and Christ, the Son of Man.
And so I listen all the time, as one who yearns for gold,
For each encounter thought sublime and worthy to be told.
For blessed are those who prophesy, what must not be ignored,
Before, in time, they, too, must die, before they meet the Lord.
