Fallen Poem by Rhonda Middleton

Fallen

My breath stopped - as my heart raced on
You turned, smiled, and got me with your charm
I was falling, I was gone,
My heart was with you from that day on

The summer was magical, warm and new
Promises made, as our love grew
Private moments gave innocence away
Sadly, we went our separate ways

You left me, for someone new
Lonely and roaming the halls at school
I was searching constantly for glimpses of you
My heart ached but you never knew

I carried on with my broken heart
Struggled to function, I didn't know where to start
Constant visions of you haunted me
I prayed my tears would wash them away and set me free

Everything I thought I knew had fallen away
The only thing left for me to do, was to pray
Recklessly, I began my life a new
Searching the world for someone, like you
