Fallen Warrior Poem by NRUSINGHA MISHRA

Fallen Warrior

Completely oblivious that there is a tomorrow and everything moves in cycle
Remorse, repentance and frustrations fill my mind today why I am in this battle
I feel tired of fighting against these people who hardly care for others
They are preoccupied with their interests in stead of acting as sisters and brothers
They seem very upset because I am an obstacle in their way
I feel depressed why should I continue to fight and let me walk away
Anyway all of these people are my own connected with each other in the same string
What I would get fighting against them and why should I cause them pain and sting
While all these conflicting arguments paralyze me preventing my progress
A faint steady voice of reason reminds me in the first place why I am in this fortress
Given order to come and fight the war without questioning its rationale and logic
Distracted by how they look or what will happen to them if defeated or killed
War had started, going on now and will go on whether I deny or accept
Trying to learn to be a witness wihtout being a doer as I feel I am not adept
