Falling Poem by Charlotte Stevens

Falling

Today an old woman collapsed in town and I passed as the medics were working on her. There didn't seem to be anyone nearby that was with her and it got me thinking about how some people die alone.

Falling, falling,
No one there to catch.
Falling, falling,
So far to go alone.

Drifting, drifting,
No one there to see.
Drifting, drifting,
Can't find the way home.

Sinking, sinking,
No one there to hear.
Sinking, sinking,
Continue to the unknown.

Fading, fading,
No one there to miss.
Fading, fading,
Perhaps...this is so long.
