Falling Fast, Rising Slow Poem by Lendsy Salcedo

Falling Fast, Rising Slow

I am caught, fallen and smitten
to someone who thought of me as hidden.
I am trapped, crashed and now enamored
to someone who will never catch me if I fall.

Million and trillion times I told myself.
I will stand up again and will repair myself.
Will forget the hurt of being fallen.
Will forget the pain of being smitten.

I love you, but you love her
She loves you too and that makes me shiver.
Stupidity of mine that I am happy for you and her.
Folly of mine that I am happy despite I am dying in severe.

Pain is an uncomfortable feeling
that even a tiny amount of it is enough to destroy everything.

I am caught, fallen and smitten.

I am trapped, crashed and enamored.

I am rising, standing and keeping still

I am smiling, fixing and repairing my broken heart here.

Your title alone shows one of your poem's main themes: there will be pain and effort involved in whatever we cherish and pursue. Recovery is long and hard but the desire makes love irresistable. I saw a movie in which a woman was afraid to love again, and a decent man said to her, Of course, your heart has been broken, our hearts are meant to be broken, That's how we learn to value love. Your poem affirms love at the same time it details the problems. The affirmation isn't wide eyed optimism. Ir's a quiet subliminal awareness that love is where we belong, and we won't give up. We will find it or it will find us. Is that a guarantee? No, but it's a reasonable hope.
