Father’s Day Poem by Marilyn Lott

Father’s Day

Rating: 2.8

Father’s Day is here again
And it sure does take me back
I think about Dad and remember
So many special facts

A man that worked so hard
To put food on the table each day
He saw life as folks used to
Yes, it was the old-fashioned way

Whether in blue workin’ jeans
Or a suit and tie for Sunday
I was always proud of this man
Many things I would do his way

Out in the field on the tractor
Was a wonderful sight for me
If more fields were needed
He sure could cut down a tree

I can see that old hat perched
Atop my dad’s head
As he drove ‘round and ‘round
The field till past time for bed

He was stubborn and determined
But I wouldn’t want it another way
I thank God I have the memories
That I have on Father’s Day!

A wonderful tribute to a wonderful dad. It's all about the example they set for us to follow. So lucky to have had that in your life - many don't. And even though he may be gone, his values and love remain. Nice write, Marilyn. Linda :)
