Fear Poem by Nontobeko Dlamini

Fear

Rating: 5.0

Paralysis like the bite of a viper
Without mercy
Holds you prisoner
And traps you in its web
Like a spider

Fear shuts you down like a robot
For it is to hide from shame
To hide from people
To avoid the blame
And conceal the truth

Fear squeze you dry like a vampire
Leaving you pale and lifeless
You succumb at its feet
motionless
Like a tree struck by lightning.
It breaks your spirit into tiny pieces
Like a cup forcefully torsed against a wall.

In fear you feel useless
Like a boat
Whirled by a storm against a ragged coastline
Lost like a baby elephant
Seperated from its mother
On their long journey
To the wetlands
Hopeless like a rabbit
Cornered by a vicious pack of hyenas

So you retreat into that thick shell
Like a tortoise
To gather more strength
And take on the fight
To never backdown
Until the battles won
To be free
Free at last

Very well written you have expressed fear in a very deep way that makes me see it as something very poisoning to a persons system. Thank you for sharing this. Mary.
