Fear Poem by Nida Nawaz

Fear

Wearing a thick black mask
It walks in
At nightfall
Holding a dagger
Or a gun in its hand
And carries me far away
Into the deep forest
To feed me to a hungry lion
Or throw me into a large pond
Full of alligators
Or else carries me atop a hill
To push me down the precipice
Into a den of venomous Snakes
It walks in every night
What else but fear
Yes, fear
My alter ego.
