Feelings Poem by Robert R. Railey

Feelings

Rating: 3.5

Feelings

Our emotions change us just like the weather
When a single word from the one we adore
Can make us soar up to new heights, such as never before

But false expectations will never fail to help us slam the door
For lack of interest, or words that are plain, will mar the mood
From before
How strange we beings are, to wish for bliss to follow us
Everywhere

We think it should, and when it doesn't, then the hurt is always
With us
How cruel we are to expect our other to fill our lives with
Ecstasy!
When all we really want is love, they sometimes prove that
They are human too

If imperfect souls have dreams to survive
Then it seems that enraged fools like us must then derive that the
Station, the place, and the middle too-
Is not for us to have equity?

Then selfish are we and expectant too, for their wishes and
Cares must also be met
Yet before the devotion, if they do share, then their feelings must
Also be bared
For when we're tempted to possess, then our love is surely
Tested, beware!

Un-sated completely, desirous and needy, a few words only
A day
And if they're positive, and complimentary too, they will keep our
Fears at bay
Should then the lover, conceal and cover, all inclines to be
Unfair?

For time well spent on building trust, and time not spent on the
Unjust, is most fair
You mean my goal then, is to fend, and dispel the words that
Thus offend?
For kindness offered, often daily, nary injures to the friend

Then silence must, when tempers flare, orates flourish with
Tender care
So speak the soft words to the ear, only the words that you
Wish to hear!
For life will damage on its own, the very souls that we have
Known

Tread lightly then, not to reproach, but murmur sweetness and
Treat them gently
For their inner doubts are ever there, they'll even doubt your love,
Albeit, you will always swear
Thus the mission of a lover's charge is simple, it's just to love
And then to be there

For the spaces we give are not in the heart, but in the mind,
Stay them apart!
It's brave to act independently, when wants are met, we all
Agree
But nights alone and times of doubt will steal our thoughts
When we are without feelings
