Loneliness

For the majority of us mere mortals, some of the most heart wrenching times that we'll ever have to experience will occur when we are alone: thankfully, though, many of those feelings of loneliness will last for only a short period of time; and yet, we know that those feelings will most likely stay buried somewhere deep in our souls
Though as a rule, we have found that the best way to correct a situation of that nature is for us to focus our attention on helping others; at times, however, that particular remedy can seem to be woefully inadequate

A Shabbily Dressed Man

To some of his peers he must have appeared to be less than, but to those of us who'd known him before his fall we believed that he was still a good man
Nowadays, though, it's politically correct to say that a person who's in such a rundown condition must have fallen through the cracks; but to me, that explanation doesn't go quite far enough

Mr. Argyle

Once upon a time there was a sock who suddenly found himself all alone in the drawer that he'd once shared with his lovely mate
He knew, of course, that the washday had already come and gone; but where was Mr. Argyle's sole mate, he asked?

Phobias

The stark, dark-night is of fear itself, but it's not the night that we fear most, it's the thoughts in our minds of a danger that's near
By day, our most secret thoughts may try to hide away, but they must eventually come out to play, and they usually do so at night

Eerie

Mysterious and chilling, are ever the feelings, that never seem to leave us; been there before, in your first life, possibly, and you know what they'll say without even hearing
Stranger than fiction, but more real than history, is the act of living while still fearful of the mystery

Fortunately, however, some of us have discovered that the answer to our problems seems to lie outside of ourselves; and therefore, we need only to focus our attention on prayer and meditation
