Fighter Jet Poem by Diana Holinski

Fighter Jet

I draw closer to you, seeking unity
You want to tear out your kitchen counters
And replace your light fixtures
In your cozy little, all-your-own home

I crave a bonded connection with you
You've got your finger on the eject button
Ready to bail, to save yourself
At a moment's notice

You run away from the feelings
That flood through you
You're as afraid to live them
As you are to live without them

But you have to take the risk
Make the choice
Believe in something
Live your creed

Fly with confidence
With no eject button
Or ground the aircraft
You were never meant to fly

You've got your finger on the eject button, this is a nice line.
