Flaunting Irishman Poem by Simon Morgenstern

Flaunting Irishman

I have searched a thousand mountains,
and a million roads I crossed,
I roamed the seven seas
and ne'er did i get lost.

trough cold and warm i wandered.
within my heart I've worn
a thought of what I left behind,
a memory of home.

O, I have too many stories
and not a lot of time
so I´ll just run past you
some favorites of mine.

one time I could tell you
I came across a well
and enchanted one for that,
by an ancient spell.

and I saw a castle high
piercing trough the clouds
with all court sleeping tightly
and no lively sound.

and once a deer so rare I´ve seen
his head a bush o berries
roaming trough the forest green
on his horns a tree of cherries.

and battles did I fight with elves.
and orcs and fairies of all kinds
and never did I lose one battle
or have stood aside.

so I tell you lads and lassies
I´m tired and quite so.
I ought to have a beer or two
and then it´s time to go.
