Flowers Poem by Daniele Cerasoli

Flowers

I walk through a meadow
Which is covered with bloom
Flowers of every kind
Try to overcome my gloom.
Yet none of these flowers,
Though beautiful in sight,
Can help me get through
This everlasting night.

I pick a red rose
The most beautiful of all
But I'm bit by the thorns
And left alone to squall.

Maybe a daisy
Is the one that I want
But it crumbles with ease
It was simply a taunt.

I pick many more
Flowers of all kinds
But none fit the bill
What I need, I can't find.

I suddenly understand
So I jump and I shout
That the flower I need
Is the one I can't live without.
So I pick a lilac
Dressed in pure, innocent white
It's not the most beautiful
But for me, it's perfectly right.
