Flutter Poem by Jan Jarnigan

Flutter

Flutter, the monarch, came to me.
She had a 'broken' wing, you see.

I gave her honey to drink, so sweet,
she would get it sticky on her feet!

Every day her wing got stronger...
Hoped she would stay just a bit longer.

When it was time for my repose,
Her favorite place was on my nose!

A mirror gave her great delight;
she saw 'another' with wings in flight!

Sometimes the organ I'd like to play..
to 'get the notes', on my finger she'd stay.

When the time came to set her free,
'With you, ' she said, 'I'd rather be! '

One day, getting home, I opened the door:
My Flutter, now silent, would fly no more.

She went where the butterflies are...
Her 'reminders' go flitting near and far!
