Flying Splinters Of Chrome (T) Poem by Tommy Mikkelsen

Flying Splinters Of Chrome (T)

The alcohol in your blood told you to be cool
So you left your protection goggles at home
Shining as a jewel, you broke the home rule
You never saw the flying splinters of chrome

While the blood was covering the streets
The rockets were still flying high
This was indeed the beat of all defeats
When you waved goodbye to your missing eye

It was even harder to see the rockets now
While hating yourself you searched for direction
With tears in the eye, you could only ask ‘How? ’
The protection could have saved your perfection
