Foe Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Foe

Wanting to beat one,
Thought and rumored to be a foe.
With a challenge to upset,
In a race to win.
Without a clue to know,
Who that foe is.
Or those behind a rumor to start.
It may be up to the one,
Deciding to challenge...
Why one picked to be labelled a foe,
By those...
More experienced in instigating,
Conflicts to produced.
Yet...
Seem nowhere to be found around,
What they have ignited to start.
Although their rumors to create,
Stay to escalate the tension.
Without anyone knowing,
Who the true culprits are.
Or could they care less,
If that foe to pick wins or loses.
Since a good fight to see,
Is their only priority.

"You don't appear to be 'my' foe! "

-Your foe?
I'm here to win a race.
That's it.
What makes you think,
I would be your foe? -

"I was told your 'appearance',
Is all I needed to know."

-Well...
I wish you the best.
I've got much more than that,
On my mind that keeps me focused.-

"And...
What do you think of me? "

-I don't.-
