For Each Of Us There Is A Final Day Poem by Francis Duggan

For Each Of Us There Is A Final Day

In our destiny we do not have a say
For each of us there is a final day
And then we will be gone forever more
But life on Earth goes on from shore to shore,
You well may drive a new expensive car
And tell to all you meet of how great you are
But you too have on you a use by date
And time ticks on and time on none does wait,
Of an afterlife not one who truly know
And people like the Seasons come and go
The reaper will claim the lives of you and i
And the rich and poor one day have got to die,
Old father time he keeps on ticking on
And yesterday it has forever gone.
