For Many Years I Pursued Fame Poem by Shalom Freedman

For Many Years I Pursued Fame

FOR SO MANY YEARS I PURSUED FAME

For so many years I pursued Fame
And never succeeded in catching it.
Now I am patient.
What does it really matter
If my name is known
By those who never knew me?
I will not be here soon
And what will such Fame
Mean to me then?

I am patient. I am old.
I love to write
And find great joy in this.
I did not catch Fame
And when I am not here
It will not bother me.
