For Poets There Are No Good Good-Byes Poem by Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

For Poets There Are No Good Good-Byes

I don't recall one
Not one that didn't
Leave me sad or
Angry,
Lost,
Forlorn...
Empty at one time or
Another
Missing someone before
They even closed the door.
Yearned for some note or call
To for get it all...that no good
Good-bye...
Oh the sadness in the
Song of a poet's good-bye
Though we boast to handle
More than most...after all
We have the words to cover our
Wounds, often left bare
Because someone pretended
To care...
There are a string of good-byes here
And our thoughts are weary,
Eyes often tear filled,
Hearts crushed, stepped upon,
Because someone stepped in
Pretending to be the all knowing God...
Lets meet again,
Somewhere,
To say hello again,
With welcoming words
and Warm hearts
With no thoughts of those
No good
Good-byes!
