For Those Who Pretend To Hear The Black Barking Dog

Rating: 5.0

When all of life's ills have consumed you,
and the walls of your mind crumble
and fall.
When every last dropp of hope drips away.
Then you can say, you bathe in the blue.

When your eye's can not lift themselves
from the weight of the floor,
And when sex, sun, T.V and food,
become an irrelavant chore.
Then you can say, you can take no more.

When time taps on your shoulder to say
it has not yet moved,
And at the back of your head,
come the crashing horses hooves.
Then you can retreat and hide away.

When your limbs long to be loved,
And wicked voices mock from above.
When a radio's static, screams secret
messages to you in the death of night,
Then you can say life's not alright.

But. Until that day creeps up from the roots,
of your perfectly nourished mind,
And strangles reality with its steal like vines.
Do not come crying to me,
For I will gladly encourage you to walk out to sea.

Very good poem Vincent. You probably have a point. Many of us feel we know pain but..........in comparison some have no idea. Sincerely, Mary
