'Forgive Me' Poem by Roy M Roi

'Forgive Me'

That's what you said last time
And the time before
-'Forgive me, it will never happen again'
And I do just that; letting it all go

I think I'll be a shameless fool
To accept another 'forgive me' for the sake of us:
In the hope of making five strides in progression
Only to take six other bold ones in retrogression!

Please don't plead again
Pocket that facade of remorse
Let you not use it in trick
To worm yourself back to me in staged guilt

I'm running out of fingers and toes
Counting the chains of 'forgive me'
I risk dying out of breath should I repeat 'forgive me'
I fear my generosity will mock me publicly should I hear one more 'forgive me'

Keep it
Because that's your religion
Do anything you please now
You are as free as a bird
Have you time and have your fun
I promise not to feel offended
But just never say
-'Forgive me'

nice poem, it made me remember a movie called 10 Things I hate About You, but it was an opposite situation, the girl was supposed to forgive this guy, & the poem at the end ov the movie is amazing. It says: I hate the way you talk to me, & the way you cut your hair. I hate the way you drive my car, I hate it when you stare. I hate your big dumb combat boots & the way you read my mind. I hate you so much it makes me sick, it even makes me rhyme. I hate the way you're always right, I hate it when you lie. I hate it when you make me laugh, Even worse when you make me cry. I hate it when you're not around, & the fact you didn't call. But mostly I hate the way I don't hate you, not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all......
