Forgive Me Poem by Giovannangelo Valente

Forgive Me

Day by day years go by
I’m doing ok, yeah; I’m doing fine
Then, something comes along
It only takes a scent or maybe a song

I’m back in your room
I can feel the warm breeze of the afternoon

So, forgive me dear
If I keep you so near
If I still crash in your bed
If you still love me there
One day I’ll get by
But today it isn’t a goodbye

I look in the mirror and it’s still there
Your mellow smile, the smell of your hair
You come to me, reach for my skin
You hold me now and devour my sin

So, forgive me dear
If I’m still here
Because you’re still in my head
Because we left it unsaid
One day I’ll say goodbye
But today is not the day I die
So, forgive me dear

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Memories will always echo in a passionate heart. I wrote this one quite a while ago, actually. It is about somewhere in Europe, with the right person, but the wrong timing... the one who's got away.
