Forgotten Forever Poem by Shalom Freedman

Forgotten Forever

FORGOTTEN FOREVER

I wrote a poem and then another poem
And then another poem
Poem after poem
Until there were so many poems
I did not know them myself
And so my poetry
Like most of my life and experience
Unknown forever and never to be remembered by me
And most likely anyone else-

As all those wonderful moments of happiness in love
Long forgotten
As all those moments of joy in prayer
Also beyond recall
I am dying and I will die forever

And no one will remember my life or my poetry ultimately
Except perhaps God
Who never promised me this at all.
