Free Poem by Troy Clark

Free

There's a dagger in the dark
waiting to set you free
Looming, impatient, ready
Yet, we all do not fear the iron bite
cold and glowing with an inner light

because we're already free
Not a line to follow, but we do
Fate? Who the hell are you?
Faith? What the hell are you?
These lines, they strangle us
they destroy us as much as they comfort us

A dagger in the dark
beading from the stress of hope
Knowing that it's core is broken
Waiting like the stalker it is
Seeing the line, as bright like our dying sun
For somebody to set it free

Will you?
