From Someone Older To Know Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

From Someone Older To Know

Anyone who believes,
They can live life...
Without being critiqued.
Has a mind preferring to ride,
All day and night on a carousel.
And done to remain feeling offended,
By those who have lost their patience...
Awaiting from them to smell the coffee.
With a putting away,
That sipping they do...
On their favorite cool-aid.

Even children less disciplined,
Would these days take that critique...
From someone older to know,
What is heard to hear said...
Is intended and meant to help them grow.
Although,
Many who have aged...
Refuse this to accept to do.
Confusing critique to give it,
As an attack on their insecurities too!

"I only said,
Whatever you believe to think,
Is right! "

-Don't use that 'reverse psychology' on me!
You never did that before.
When we both knew I was wrong!
Why 'now' am I right?
Huh?
Are you trying to offend my intelligence? -
