From Underground Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

From Underground

From underground.
Sewage seeping through cracks leak.
From underground.
Polluted eyes clear up to see,
Low down digging deep are thieves.
Hiding misdeeds done beneath.
But those deceived begin to peep.
Peeved they are and seething.

From underground.
The sleaze is sniffed with stench that lifts.
Exposing demons grasping bags.
Stashing cash.
Dressed as saints so they could dash.
Fast and undetected.
Through crowds to pass.
From underground.
The seeping,
Of sewage leaks.
From underground.
Disbelievers see,
What they fed on and to eat...
Was poison right below their feet.
From underground.
Fat rats rotten to the core.
From underground.
Robbing from poor even more.
Malicious and vindictive thieves,
Misdeeding evils.
In abundant quantities.
To do it done to run,
From underground.
