Fun In New Orleans Poem by Lorraine Margueritte Gasrel Black

Fun In New Orleans

Mardi Gras mask

behind sad eyes

big smiles

gold, green and purple

nobility enfolded

in the Fleur De Lis

Parades

among the thrilled throngs

ice and Hurricanes intox

beads and King cakes

eating Creole dishes

whet the palate

all in all the final day

of revelry

before Lent begins

After the big party

is over

more fun in Vegas!
