Futility Poem by Edwina Reizer

Futility

What is this war?
What is it for?
Peace does not prevail.
Time and again
Too many men
Fight for peace and fail.

Torn bodies,
Bloody fields
And nothing good ever yields.
Once and for all
Too many fall.
But not the brass wearing shields.

It’s the boys again.
That’s who they send
To do their dirty deeds.
The planned strategies,
The failed tragedies
That always plant the seeds

Of terrible hate
And a timeless wait
For another senseless war.
Another white cross
Another sad loss
And the futility of what for?
