Games Poem by Jess Patterson

Games

The objective is fun
or possibly to win-
for some its to strengthen
or to scar the most skin.
But to play with a heart...
as innocent as a child
to tear it apart
and declare the damage mild.
To test a solid mind
morph sanity into reason
disguising love permanent
from what could only last a season.
Falling is a first step
than to gamble a future's wage
it takes two to tango
but it takes one to rule the stage.
Dominance is a tactic
teammates are insignificant
trickery is strategy
and pain is evident.

It begins with the world
and narrows down to two
love is the description
of what to go through.

The beginning is fun
believing both can win...
love can bring pain
so let the games begin.
