Visit to Sarnath where Buddha
Preached first near Varanasi
And seeing the ruins of monasteries
And the museum is a unique experience.

Born as Siddhartha Gautama
Into royal blood in Lumbini province
Viewed sufferings in life and meditated
Under bodhi tree in Gaya to find solution.

He found enlightenment and then on
He is known as Gautama the Buddha
He promulgated pure way of life and
Taught people to give them some relief.

It was fifth century before Christ
Buddha came up with powerful ideas
Of a righteous way of life that led to
Buddhism many in the world followed.

The noble eightfold path He delivered says
Right view, right thought, right speech
Right conduct, right livelihood, right effort
Right mindfulness, and right concentration.

Following the steps gives a peaceful life
Which allows people live in eternal harmony
His followers appreciate value of his teachings
Hindus accept him as avatar of the Supreme.
