Georges Head -Kilkee Poem by Patrick J. McCormack

Georges Head -Kilkee

Georges Head -Kilkee

Natures sculpted craggy ediface
by time and weather worn
majestic and welcoming
like a trusty watch dog
Overlooking the general bustle
of a crescent shaped strand
Noisy white wing'd gulls
shelter and rest
or feed from eager holiday hands.
Overhead a gold tinged
cotton wool cloud pattern
like an upsidedown seascape
reaches out beyond eye distance.

Here to sit in green grassy pulpit
observing the ill tempered
crashing tide's efforts
before stretching sea-ward
in long finger'd pastel shades
of green and blue.
The distant horizon, touched by the sea's
furrow'd stained glass surface effect
carries emigrant thoughts
to America -and beyond.
