Get Used To It

I enjoy staying home watching the shadows on the wall
Its a hard way to fall and a long way down
I like to watch the faces sitting round
I’ll take notice if they have anything inside
Most of them don’t and neither do I
I’ve been kicking up dust down the trail leaving behind nothing not even footsteps
Time will replace me and it will replace you too
I’d like to at least receive smiles from all the strangers down at the zoo

In the courtyard it cant be found unless you have it with you
Watching waves out on the water trying to protect
People in this city travel fast
Slow down and move past

How can I explain its so hard to pronounce
Theirs a young kid bouncing a ball
While all along the wall people fall
Cracks in the pavement
Cracks in ancient history
Stairs to the basement
Lead to tunnels of mystery
Shadows dance all day long
To the people who sing their song
You can set out to find it without realizing you left that behind all along

O I heard a lady cry one night under a starry sky
Said I beg to differ but really I knew where she was coming from
The journey has just begun
Yet fears and dreams were shattered as we drove off into a setting sun
Realize its not a sense of need
It's the ambiguity of creed
You can beg and plead but eventually your going to have to get used to it
